Automatic Racing was formed in December of 2001 by business man Jep Thornton. The purpose of the team was to compete in the series known as Grand Am Cup, today labeled IMSA’s Continental Sports Car Challenge. The product was the nimble BMW M3. Quickly the team established itself as a Championship contender. The first to develop a Street Stock Racing version of the BMW E46 M3, the effort went on to win the manufacturers, drivers, and team Championship.
In 2012, Automatic transitioned into developing, preparing, and racing the prestigious Aston Martin brand. The car of choice was the Vantage GT4 model. Once again, that made Automatic Racing the first American based team to race an Aston Martin on US soil in over a decade. Today, they continue to develop and compete with the brand throughout the United States.
